Calibrating a System In KYPipe

KYPipe uses an implicit optimization routine based on a genetic algorithm approach to adjust pipe roughness, valve settings, and other data to provide a calibrated model (KYPipe only). The program minimizes the difference between observed field data (usually fire flow test data) and model predictions considering all test data simultaneously to provide the best calibration possible.  An easy-to-use Calibration Wizard guides the user through this process.

Inputs:  Pressure or flow readings from hydrants or junctions at various times.

Output:  Calibrated roughness values or roughness aging factors that can be applied to pipes during subsequent analysis.  The roughness values and aging factors can be removed in one step.
