Pipe2010: KYPipe Extended Period Simulation Feature

Extended Period Simulation (EPS) refers to a hydraulic or water quality analysis carried out over a specified time period.  Pipe2010's EPS feature simulates extended periods (e.g. 24-144 hours) with pump and tank controls, demand curves, and specified changes at designated times.
When a KYPipe hydraulic model has been developed to run a regular simulation the EPS feature is effortless to setup and launch. There are 4 types of additional data which may be required. These include:
  1. EPS Data
  2. Tank Data
  3. Demand Pattern Data
  4. Control Switch Data

Pipe2010 EPS modeling feature allows the user to designate a switch to turn on / off a device (control element) or open (on) / close (off) a pipe based on the pressure or water level at some locations (sensing node) in the distribution system. Tank level variations will also be calculated and control switches activated appropriately.

A power cost calculation may also be set up as part of an EPS. A power cost analysis is automatically conducted with an EPS simulation when a cost is specified. The cost for each computational period (incremental cost), cumulative total cost, and the total cost for the simulation are all reported.
