The Optimal Pump Scheduling module allows for computing the most economical and efficient way of operating complex water distribution systems with multiple pump stations. Users can specify pressure and velocity constraints in computing the most cost effective solution for operating multiple pumps in multiple pump stations. In addition, the user may also specify tank level constraints, i.e. final tank level must be greater than or equal to initial tank level. The unique method used for problem formulation and selection of decision variables (based on several years of research at University of Kentucky) results in highly compact solution space allowing for the most economical pump scheduling solution. The Optimal Pump Scheduling module employs the powerful genetic algorithm based solution pioneered by KYPipe for hydraulic calibration of water distribution networks.
