2.9 A waterborne disease outbreak had occurred in a certain neighborhood of a small town in a hilly region. A thorough investigation into the water treatment plant operation revealed no breach in protocols leading to impaired water quality in the flow of the exiting the treatment plant. Local restaurants were also eliminated as potential sources. If the source of this disease outbreak is potentially the drinking water distribution network itself, enumerate all possible pathways for pathogen intrusion and events that could have triggered the pathogen intrusion.
