G.11 Compute radius of gyration for a thin circular annular plate of 1000 mm outer diameter and 900 mm inner diameter with respect to its centerline z-axis.

Solution:

Polar moment of inertia of annular plate Izm =  (1/2) π(r24 – r14)

Izm = 0.5 * π * (0.54 – 0.454)= 0.0337 m2

Area = 0.1492 m2

Radius of gyration Rzm = (Izm/Area)0.5= 0.475 m
