Using Meters for Allocating Demands

KYPipe can utilize Metered Connections, or simply “meters,” to allocate demands in potable water distribution systems. The image below illustrates the two ways meters are used:

  1. Each pipe can be assigned a number of residential meter connections (1). An average residential demand (per meter) is defined (2) and the total residential demand for the meters is distributed equally to the end nodes of each pipe (3).
  2. Metered connection nodes (4) allow metered demands to be placed anywhere in the distribution system. Data for each pipe includes the average demand and identifying information (5). This information is stored in a spreadsheet which can be updated using meter records (6). The demand for each metered connection is distributed to the pipe’s end nodes based on the meter’s distance from the end nodes (7).
